Dr. Michael D. Harris obtained his bachelor of science in microbiology and cell science with a minor in chemistry at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla.  He completed medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine on the island of Grenada in the West Indies. He later completed both his internal medicine residency as well as his gastroenterology fellowship at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, in Stony Brook, NY.He then completed a one-year fellowship in advanced endoscopy at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY under the mentorship of Dr. Stavros Stavropoulos.

Dr. Harris is a board-certified gastroenterologist who practices both general gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy, including experience in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) with and without fine needle aspiration, gastrointestinal oncology with luminal restoration/endoluminal stenting, complex pancreatic disorders including pseudocyst drainage, EUS guided nerve block and neuralysis, standard and complicated Barrett's esophagus treatment including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
